Allaah SubhaanaHuu wa Ta’aalaa said to His Prophet SallAllaahu ‘alaihi wa  ‘aalihii wasallam:

And by the Mercy of Allah, you dealt with them gently. And had you been stern and hard-hearted, they would have broken away from you; so over (their faults), and ask Allah’s forgiveness for them, and consult them in the conduct of (important) affairs. Then when you have resolved, put your trust in Allah. Certainly! Allah loves those who put their trust (in Him).        ‘Aali ‘Imraan  3: 159

Allaah SubhaanaHuu wa Ta’aalaa said to His Prophet SallAllaahu ‘alaihi wa  ‘aalihii wasallam:

Hold firmly to the habit of forgiveness, and enjoin what is good and (he who does not accept this order of goodness because of ignorance, then) turn away from (such) ignorant people (that is avoid quarreling with them).

And if an incitement from the Shaitan incites you, then seek refuge from Allah. Verily! He (Allah) is All-Hearer, All-Knower.           ‘Al-‘A’raaf  7: 199-200

Allaah SubhaanaHuu wa Ta’aalaa said to His Prophet SallAllaahu ‘alaihi wa  ‘aalihii wasallam:

And bear patiently with what they say, and leave their company with grace and dignity.   Al-Muzzammil  73: 10
